October 2021 IPSY Glam Bag Plus Unboxing

Hey hey, it’s MJ,

I am writing this about fifteen minutes after writing Sunday’s post so here we are again. I am back, back again. Still really tired.

We are so close to Halloween and the end of the month which is crazy sauce, I cannot believe in less than a week we will be in November, I don’t want to be this close to the end of the year yet, but here we are.

I never got a tracking email on this one, which is always a little weird but it showed up the same day as my GB so it was two rocks with one bird.

I feel like this is going to be a short one specifically because my brain is not rolling at 100% right now, I have been up for almost six hours and it’s only 8 AM. This post is going to be fun because my last post was more on the serious side and life it too short to be serious all the time.

Let’s get right into it then, let’s talk about my October GB+

The bag:

I love this one, I love the lips and the fangs. The color choice is amazing and what is different between the GB and the GB+ is that the lips on the GB+ are outlined in white which makes them stick out a little more which makes them look even cooler. The lime green drawstring was a great design choice and I want to find a reason use this again because it’s so fun.

The products:

I want to preface this with I have six this month because I redeemed points this month so there will be six items instead of the usual five. I was not sent an extra item by mistake; I used my points to get it.

Kate Somerville Goat Milk Moisturizing Cream:

I love this, I actually just threw my last one away because it was empty. This is one of my fave moisturizers that I currently have. I bought this one as a replacement for the one I just finished. Normally I don’t buy products as a replacement, but this one is totally worth it. This is one of those products that I have become one of my holy grail products and I really like this moisturizer.

Illamasqua Beyond Liquid Highlighter in OMG:

I have been using highlighter daily now because I like to glow a little with all of the gloom in the world. That sounds too motivational for me, I love highlighter though, it’s the crow part of my brain that is just screaming for shiny things. The color is gorgeous and it really doesn’t take much and all of a sudden they might be able to see you from space.

Dermalect Self Esteem Beauty Sleep Serum:

I love a good serum, who doesn’t? I feel like serums have become such a big part of my skin care routine over the last year and maybe because I’m getting older and I care more about my skin now, or maybe because skin care has become such a big thing over the last few years. It smells pretty good and I am looking forward to give it a chance when I am done with the rest of my serums. I could use multiple serums at the same time (well not together, just on different days) because they are for different things, but I stick with things until they either effect my skin or I run out.

Aracelli Ojos Perfectos Gel Pencil Eyeliner in Black and Rose Gold:

I don’t wear eyeliner but I chose these because I used to use pencil eyeliner all the time, well gel liner. I don’t like liquid liner but I love a good gel liner. I need to get back into wearing eyeliner and I figured that getting some gel liner would be a good first step. I cannot wear eyeliner like I used to back in my emo days. I am a professional adult now and that just wouldn’t be a good look anymore, so here we are with these ones.

Wander Beauty Staycation Hydrating Mask:

It can be a wash off mask or it can be a moisturizer so that’s great because I usually like to leave these things on overnight. I am almost out of my Ahava mask so I am looking forward to having another mask that I can put on a few times a week and get all of the benefits of a really good moisturizer.

Doucce Posh Powder Palette:

This was my points redeemed item, I love Doucce and I haven’t gotten any Doucce products in my Glam Bags in well over a year. I love their mascara, their eye shadow is amazing, and I am looking forward to giving this palette a try because the shades are stunning. Their packaging is simple and classic and the product is amazing, it is a little on the pricey side though, so when I get the opportunity to get their products, I jump on it.

So, there is my Glam Bag Plus this month, it was a good bag over all and I am looking forward to seeing what will be my options in my November bag.

If you want to see what else I have gotten this year, you totally can, just click on the month! January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, and September.

I will be back later in the week with another post so get excited! So until then I hope that everyone has a great rest of the week and everyone stays safe, happy, and healthy!

December 2020 IPSY Glam Bag Plus Unboxing

Hey hey, it’s MJ,

So I cannot believe that this is the last Glam Bag Plus post of the year, how has this year slipped by so fast but also felt like 350 years of history all in about 366 days and we aren’t even at the end of the year yet.

There are going to be six items in this because I redeemed points and got a really nice eye shadow palette, I have another form the same brand and I love it so much. So there will be more items in this one that usual, though there are half and half skin care and cosmetics in this. I chose most of the skin care and the value of my box was insane for a $25 plus tax price tag.

The Bag:

I expected it to be shearling feeling by the pictures on the website but it’s finer than that, I really don’t know how to explain it but it’s not fuzzy but it’s still really nice. I do like the Glam Bag Plus bags lately now that they are different than the regular Glam Bag bags.

The Products:

So what did I get? I will say this first though, the choices this month were better than months prior and I think they are finally starting to find their groove with this new choice system.

Doucce Freematic Limited Edition Smokey Pro Palette:

Doucce makes some amazing products, their mascara’s are some of my favorites ever and having another palette from them is always a great addition to the collection, I like their palette’s because the single pans come out so if you run out of one or want to switch up some colors you can with no problem, it also comes with a highlighter and I am a sucker for highlighters so having another one is pretty great over all. I also like that the matte shades and the shimmer/metallic shades are balanced four and four usually in a palette the balance shifts one or the other and that can make day looks more difficult.

QMS Medicosmetics ACE Vitamin Day & Night Cream:

I chose this one, I love a good day and night cream and I have been going though moisturizer a lot this year because well this year hasn’t been too nice to my skin between makeup and face masks and face masks while wearing makeup all day at work I have had more skin issues this fall than in months past so I chose this one in hope that I can get some really good moisture in my skin. Also this is one of those products that is luxury skin care that I would never buy at full price because of the price so being able to get it in a bag like this is amazing to me.

111Skin 3 Phase Anti-Blemish Booster

I got two acne products in this bag, this one and the next one, I chose this one because I love 111Skin but it’s just out of my price range on a normal day but their products are amazing, I have a few of them stashed away in my fridge to keep them fresh and I am looking forward to being able to have another serum to try out.

Shaina B Miami Mini Miami Blush and Highlight Palette:

I will never stop loving the flamingo logo’s in this brands pans, I chose this one as well and this was the last one that I chose this go round. I like the shades, the blush in shade Rosa is actually the right color for my skin tone Brickell is a little dark but I could almost use that as a contour shade so I’m not upset about it. Maybe it’ll look different on the skin than in the pan so who knows.

Tula Skincare Go Away Acne Spot Treatment:

I really like Tula as well, I have their cleanser and it’s one of my favorites so getting another Tula product is always nice. It’s another spot treatment and I think that I need to get back into using spot treatments again because again my skin is suffering from everything that’s been going on this year so I am really looking forward to adding this into my skincare routine to help combat my skin issues that have been cropping up a lot more recently. Like seriously I got my skin under control late last year and into this year and then well the world blew up and my skin has been suffering with the stress, masks, hormonal, and environmental stuff this year.

IL Makiage Color Boss Multi-Dimensional Eye Color in Eyes on the Prize:

I am going to start off and say holy crap this is pigmented and so gold, I really like the shade and a little goes a long way. I love the packaging when I opened it I kept opening and closing the uni-carton because it was hinged and the packaging itself on the product is beautiful. The shade and pigmentation are great and I will find a use for this in looks in the future because it’s a great shade.

Overall my December Glam Bag Plus was a great way to end off the year with this service, I can’t wait to see what next year brings with the Glam Bag’s both the regular and the Plus but we will have to wait and see for what January will bring.

If you want to know what else I have gotten this year you can, January, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, and November.

I will see all of you later in the week with another post so until then I hope everyone has a great rest of the week!

Makeup Bag Update/Refresh

So I posted a blog post a little over a year ago with my makeup bag essentials or my wedding makeup go-to’s and I have since updated what I carry around. Now I have also done a travel or To-Go beauty post and that can be subbed in as well if you don’t want to check a bag if you are flying to an event. Some of the things have remained the same, I am not that versatile but I have found new things over the last year or so that I have swapped older products out for and I think that a refresh on your makeup bag is necessary every so often. As seasons and styles change you need to move with them also it depends on what you are wearing to the event, I am going to say that usually I go for a neutral/natural look when it comes to eyeshadow when I am going to events that are more professional or even personal, I am not going to a club I do not need neon eyeshadow no matter how much I want to wear some acid green eyeshadow like the Tokidoki one I had back in the day, legit it was their shade called I think Soya and I remember loving that brand so much back in the mid to late-2000’s. I saved up for it so I could buy it at Sephora and I don’t know why I picked that shade because I didn’t wear it very often.

Seriously for events that don’t involve a lot of glitter avoid a lot of glitter!

So let’s dive right into the bag then, I am not going to talk about tools because those haven’t really changed and let’s be honest everyone uses their makeup brushes for what they want and they have their favorites so if you want to know about my tools, they are in my makeup bag essentials post.

I am going to start with base makeup, my foundation hasn’t changed it is still the Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation in shade 0.5, I really want to try their new Stay Naked foundation and eventually I will because I feel like Urban Decay is my go to for foundation and it has been since I started wearing makeup. (I like Makeup Forever as well but I haven’t used it since I was in college and I dropped it on the floor in my apartment. It went everywhere luckily the bottle was mostly empty.)

My primer also hasn’t changed I still use NYX’s photo loving primer in green to balance out the red in my face, though the All Nighter does cover the red really well.

The things that I have switched out are concealer and I have added setting powder, the setting powder I have is Coty Air Spun but for a makeup bag I use Tarte’s setting powder that I got in my May Glam Bag last year. I have used it in the past when I had no idea how to use makeup so it was a natural choice to include here.

My concealer game has changed, I still love my Naked Skin concealer but that is up in my makeup bag at my parent’s place, I have moved on to Tarte Shape Tape, like the rest of the internet. I will say this it does make my face a little tight in the application areas but it makes your skin look great. I also have been using Colourpop’s No Filter concealer and I have been absolutely obsessed because it is under $10 and it works so well.

On to face so blush bronzer and highlighter, my bronzer still hasn’t changed, I am still working with Hoola from Benefit because I don’t wear a lot of bronzer but when I do I put it on in all the wrong places and then look stupid.

Blush has changed though, I got an Anastasia blush trio last year and I have found that I like having multiple choices for blush or the option to mix two different shades and get a great look out of it.

Highlighter has also changed, I still would probably bring my Urban Decay highlighter quad but I also like the single pan options as well and I have Morphe’s highlighter in the shade Extra and Colourpop’s highlighter in the shade Might Be because I like them both and again like having options when it comes to my look.

Eyes is probably the area that has changed the most and that’s understandable because eye trends change so quickly and there are always new eyeshadow palettes and mascaras coming out.

Eyeshadow is one of those things that you can love one day and hate the next but I found that having a larger palette with a lot of neutral shades has done me really great so I switched to the Morphe Nature Glow palette because it’s 35 shades and you can add in pops of color from other palettes if you want or bring a few single pan shades from your favorite brands to add some variation to your look. I also usually include the Tartelette Toasted Palette as well because it is a smaller version of a neutral palette and I have been loving it for years.

Mascara, I still like to carry two around with me but this year it is too travel sized items, Doucce’s Maxlash and Benefit’s Bad Gal Bang which I found myself using a lot this year. Bad Gal Bang though takes longer to dry that I have noticed so be careful. Still wear glasses so I don’t wear eyeliner and also I don’t want to look like a death metal raccoon by the time I’m done trying to get the wings even.

Eyebrow products are still the same, I found Rimmel’s Born This Way years ago and I haven’t been brave enough to really try anything else.

Lips are easier for me in a way because I just pick a few nude shades and run with it, one of them I just got but it has already found its way into my makeup bag and that is the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour liquid lipstick in shade ‘?’ it came exclusively in the summer mystery box and I am obsessed with it. The other shade is Eddie Funkhouser Twisted Kisses in the shade Kiss Me Twice and I got this one in my November Glam Bag last year. I also carry around a lip scrub and I have one from Tree Hut Beauty that I have been loving for the last year so it was the natural choice.

Last is setting spray, I have two or three that I use but this is a travel size of the All Nighter setting spray from Urban Decay and it so good. Believe the hype, it’s great if you want a matte look all day. Colourpop’s All-Star is also great if you are looking for a more budget friendly option!

So that’s my update, my refresh, and my current makeup bag collection.

Do you have any holy grail products that never leave your makeup bag? I would loe to know about them!

I will see everyone about mid-week with another post!

            -MJ

What was in my April 2019 ipsy Glam Bag ?

Well I have had ipsy for a year now so that means that I have to start putting the year on the post as to not confuse it with my April ipsy Glam Bag from last year. That’s right there is now a year’s worth of Glam Bag unbaggings here on the blog. That’s really hard to believe that I have even had my blog a year but I have, my blogiversary was in mid-March so happy one year to this mishmash of crazy!

So what was in my bag? Well I will get to that in just one moment. First a side note, they lifted the wait list for the Glam Bag Plus and I jumped on it, ipsy is my OG beauty subscription so I have some loyalty to them and I like the idea of the Glam Bag Plus through them. My first one will be May so look forward to that when it is eventually posted it after I get it in the mail.

The card was back this month with a description of the products and I was really excited because I missed it a lot last month.

The bag, first and foremost just screams summer! at you and I was so happy when this bag design was announced. It has lemons on it with the outline and the coloring not matching up which is a really fun artistic choice.

On to the products so I don’t drag this out for 3,000 words, it has happened before and it is destined to happen again.

Doucce Punk Volumizing Mascara:

Doucce is one of my favorite mascaras and I have gotten a few in the past through ipsy the first one was with my May bag last year and again in the Holiday Collection, normally I don’t like repeats but I was excited to see the brand with a different kind of mascara and I hope that it holds up to the expectations that MaxLash set for Doucce mascaras.

Firma Beauty 103 Angled Contour Brush:

It’s been a while since I have gotten a brush in my glam bag, I think the last time was February, I honestly though it was a lot more time than that but I looked back and sure enough, it was February. I do not contour much but I love the brush and just because I am truly terrible at contouring doesn’t mean I shouldn’t practice and try to get better so this brush is a step in the right direction. I honestly don’t even think I have an angled brush and that is pretty hard for me to believe because of the flower pot full of makeup brushes I have in my bathroom.

In case you were wondering about the flower pot and yes all of my mascaras and eyeliners are in a beaker.

Purlisse Watermelon Energizing Aqua Balm:

The container proudly says it’s even okay for sensitive skin so that’s exciting, granted with lotion or moisturizer it is hard to see how your skin is actually going to react with such a small amount of the new product. I love watermelon so it’s exciting, it has Vitamins A, C, and E as well as aloe vera and cucumber so it is probably very soothing which I am really looking forward to actually giving it a go.

Tarte (Double Duty Beauty) Base Tape Hydrating Primer:

If you have been around a while y’all know I love me some Tarte, it is a great brand and I have never had a problem with any of their products, I use Shape Tape concealer and the Tartist Pro palette is one of my all-time favorites. This is new so I am excited to see if it is worth its weight in actually doing what it says it does. It has jojoba oil in it so that means it’s super hydrating and I am on board for that.

Hikari Cosmetics Cream Pigment in Honeydew:

It’s beautiful, I am going to start out with that and at the moment because I just swatched it I am trying really hard not to get it on my keyboard as I type. It says that it can be used as an eyeshadow or a highlighter and it is popping so I would for sure test it out as a highlighter. The card in the bag says that it is coral pink but it looks more bronzy and rose gold/copper to me and I will never ever be upset about that shade. It’s really nice and it is a great shade for spring rolling into summer.

Over all, loved the bag as I usually do, ipsy never fails to impress me, I have yet to be disappointed in any of my glam bags, there may be a product here or there that I am not a fan of but overall I always love getting the metallic pink package in my mailbox each month.

If you want to check out the rest of my ipsy unmaggings from this year you can: January, February, and March.

Do you subscribe, if you do what’s your favorite product you got? Got any tips for someone who can’t contour?

I’ll see everyone on Saturday or Sunday because it’s birthday and Easter weekend and I don’t know how close I am going to be to my laptop.

Have a good rest of your week either way!

Top 5 Favorite Mascaras

I have used plenty of different mascaras over the years since I started wearing makeup and felt comfortable enough to get near my eyes with a wand of black death. Like everyone else who has used mascara before I have poked myself in the eye with the wand and then gotten the mascara all over my face.

I am a wearer of glasses so I would probably be able to see the results better, as would the people around me if I wore contacts but that’s never going to happen. I have also never worn false lashes; (I know shocking) so I don’t know their benefits either because I am afraid of my eyes reaction to the lash glue.

I have used mascaras in the past that I used once and never used again because it either gave me some sort of reaction or it didn’t do what it was advertised to do. I have worn mascaras for short times that I loved but when it came to long wear they flaked way too easily and irritated my eyes so these mascaras in this post represent my five favorite in the last few years but mostly within the last year because I have begun to diversify what kind of mascara I get because of my ipsy and now Birchbox subscriptions.

Let me tell you all about my eyelashes because what I use may not work for everyone, everyone has different lash issues as well as different sensitivities and lash wants and needs so what I like you may really not and that is totally cool because we can all have opinions, isn’t that a beautiful thing?

These are not in any particular order; I don’t have a number one favorite of these five because they all do the job that I want them to do while making my eyelashes look great.

Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash

I have been using this mascara for years and it has never disappointed me. It is on the pricy side but it is worth it if you wear mascara every day. I really like the curved brush because I feel like it really makes my eyelashes pop and look amazing even with just one coat. It can get clumpy but I think that is more user error rather than product error because granted I love mascara I am still not perfect at putting it on even though I have been wearing it since like 2007. I used to be able to get away without it but I don’t wear eyeliner anymore so I have to wear something around my eyes.

NYX Cosmetics Worth the Hype

I have been loving this for a good year now and I don’t see me ever feeling any different about it. If you read my February Beauty Haul you know that I had to buy a new one so that’s why this one isn’t open. I am going to try and finish off some other mascaras I already have in play before I start this one. I love the way it makes my lashes look so this is automatically one of my favorites and one of the only non-prestige items on this list.

Doucce Maxlash Volumizer

This is a newer mascara in my makeup bag, I got a sample in my May Glam Bag from ipsy last year and I raved about it then and I had only worn it once. I still really love it because it does give you the volume of false lashes with one coat. (I imagine they feel like my eyelashes do when coated in this mascara.) It doesn’t flake which is so great and it’s only a trial size so I can use a lot more of it in the window of time when it is still good. I got a second sample in the Gold Holiday Collection and that made me really happy because it’s nice to have a backup.

Too Faced Better Than Sex

Okay so the name is funny, I have been getting travel sizes of this product every year around Christmas since probably 2015, it was one of the first prestige mascaras that I ever owned and so it is one of my favorites. Now I don’t even remember what mascara I used to buy when I started to wear makeup, I could not tell you now. This is one of those products that I always have in my makeup bag because it is a staple for me. It is a go to for me because I know what it’s going to look like. It’s a good mascara with a really great name so I can’t be upset about it.

Tarte Maneater

This I use whenever I am up at my parent’s house because it’s in my makeup bag there, now this has a really long applicator and it really is a great mascara even though I don’t wear it as often as the others on this list. I love the packaging and I’m not actually sure if they still make this but I would buy it again if they did. I think at one point in the past I had Tarte’s lights, camera, lashes mascara so I like their formula and I know Tarte’s quality and this product is no different.

It’s been a while since I have done a top five for my makeup and it was nice to be able to go through my collection again and actually think about why I like the products that I like.

Do you have a favorite mascara?

            -MJ

Was Getting ipsy’s Gold Holiday Collection Worth It?

Okay so on Black Friday I decided that I was going to give into marketing and order the 22-piece set, now if you have read any of my ipsy unbaggings you know how much I enjoy having an ipsy subscription and let’s be real if I could afford to shell out $25 a month to get the glam bag plus when it becomes available for the general public I would because I love getting and trying new beauty products.

So was it worth it? I think so, yea. I like what I got and I only got two repeats from what I have gotten in other glam bags this year and a repeat product from the Summer Fabfitfun (which I will be able to type one day without going back and making sure that I have the three F’s in the right order, today was not that day.) box but I like the product so I wasn’t too upset that I got another full size of it in this bag.

Waiting for this bag was a pain in the butt because it was delayed at least three times, I understand that this time of year because there is such a high volume of things being shipped because it is something called the “holiday season” I get it. I was just a little worried with the fact that I had no tracking information for days at a time before I finally got it on Tuesday of this week. (Unlike the last thing I unboxed I was not disappointed by this package.) Now this wasn’t like a usual ipsy unbagging because I knew what I was getting, it was all listed and pictured on the website when I bought it. I mean it would have been really cool to have the option to have a mystery 22-piece set as an option as will but this makes sure that when you order it you know you are not going to feel as if you have been gypped (who picked the spelling for that word, I want to talk to them) with the products that were included in the bag itself.

After three paragraphs of exposition lets dig into the bag, it’s about two times larger than a standard bag and I am a huge fan, when I saw it on the website I thought it had gold feathers on it, I was wrong it is many gold eyelashes and that makes more sense than feathers for a beauty company. Gold interior and it is a nice tan light canvas, I really like the bag and wish that all of their products came in bags this bag but five little products would get lost like Hermione’s bag in Harry Potter or Mary Poppins purse and so it wouldn’t really make sense for five trial sized products to go in a bag this large.

Two items were on the outside of the bag and that was the Coola sunscreen and the Ouai Memory Mist which is a spray to make your hair more resistant to heat when styling and I am completely for that because I color my hair so when I do straighten it I worry that because of the combination of dye and heat that my hair is just going to start snapping off. It won’t happen like that but it is always a fear.

Now what was in the bag you may ask, I split this up between makeup, skin care, and misc. After I took all of the packaging off of the products everything fit into the bag, with the exception of the single pan blush and eyeshadow I got because I didn’t want to have loose eyeshadow and blush rolling around in my new bag to damage the bag, the other products, and the original products. I am not going to write a bunch about each product because this post would be so long and after my last post which was like 2600 words I don’t think I need to write another one that is quite that long.

Makeup:

Most of the products that were in the makeup category were from brands that I recognized and I was very pleased with what I received. Let’s go from left to right, back row first.

Doucce Maxlash Mascara- I got this one in one of my first Glam Bags and I am a huge fan of Doucce with the products I have tried which is this mascara and one of their eyeshadow palettes and its kind of nice to have a backup travel size of this product.

Eyeko Eye Do Liner- I got a different Eyeko liner in my July ipsy glam bag and I normally am not a liner wearer because by the time I’m done fixing my wings to be even I look like I just walked out of a coal mine. Though I have heard really good things about Eyeko as a brand and the liner that I got in July did go on nice and smooth even though my wing was crooked. I don’t know if this is a different formula but I am hopeful that it is roughly the same.

Lorac Pro Satin Lip in Blush- I love Lorac as a brand but this is my first one of their lip products, the color is really nice and I am excited to actually have a reason to do more than just swatch it.

So Susan Liquid Lipstick in Pumpkin- I expected it to be orange, it is not orange and it is actually a rather pretty late autumnal shade which will take a look to go with but I am excited to have a look to put with it. I was pleasantly surprised when it wasn’t orange or had more of an orange tone to it, it’s more of a burnt dark orange with red tones as well. Super pretty, in my opinion.

Pacifica Nebula Highlight- Okay this highlighter is beautiful. I know Pacifica for their skin care, I used their makeup wipes for years and they smelled like coconut and were great before I discovered micellar water and have not looked back (sorry). I swatched this and I want to bathe in it, it’s a beautiful iridescent and I can’t describe it any other way, the packaging is amazing and I love it. If I like it as much as I did swatching I see a full sized product in the future.

Front Row from the left!

Helios (I love that name) eyeshadow in Pinky Up!- It has so much glitter in it with a rose gold base, it’s not super pigmented but that is okay because there is so much glitter in it that it makes up for it pretty well.

Ittsē single eyeshadow in metamorphosis- It’s super pretty and with the eyeshadows I found a theme, rose gold/copper/gold was the tones for all of the shadows in this bag, I like the shadow and it was already magnetic so it went into my magnetic palette right after I took the picture, the pigment is so-so but I feel like with a lot of single shadows it is like that for many brands that I have encountered because of my ipsy bags.

Space Case Eyeshadow in Love Potion No. 3- I loved the outer packaging on this one because it was so cool, really hard to open but so cool. I really like the shade and while I would not pair these three shadows together in one look in their own individual looks they would be great.

Lottie blush in Zayn- It’s a nice pinkie blush with pretty good pigment, went right in the magnetic palette because it came as just a pan in a bubble plastic with a small outer box. The packaging on this one was great too, I cannot get over the packaging for so many brands, they always seem to find a way even with simple packaging to blow me away.

Skincare:

This was the largest category and I split it up between products and masks so products first. From left to right.

Pūr-Lisse Lip Nourisher- Not a brand I have heard of but that clearly means nothing. It has mango and shea-butter in it so I know that it’s going to be pretty great and we are getting into the season of dry and cracking lips so having something to protect them makes me very excited.

Barefoot Venus (another great brand name) Lemon Freckle Hand Cream- First impression, it smells like lemon pound cake or lemon meringue pie and I am not mad about that. It is thick and moisturizing. I am one of those people who loves lotion but hates the feeling of it on the skin because most of the time it’s greasy; this one actually isn’t too bad and it smells great both in the tube and on the hands. It’s been about 10 minutes since I put it on and my hands feel really silky and there is no more greasiness so that is a super plus in my book.

Jersey Shore Cosmetics Peppermint moisture rich hydrating balm- I prefer natural scents when it comes to any kind of mint if I can get it, I prefer natural scents for a lot of products but that is for another time. I am one of those people who have 7-10 tubes of chapstick or lip balm around, none of them are finished, and I can only find two so having another one is not a bad thing.

Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Illuminating Primer- I have used one primer for years now and one other before that, both are green tinted because of a skin condition that I have that leaves my cheeks red and ruddy, though I am willing to give anything with it comes to beauty a try so I am excited to try this as well. I would open it while I am writing this but I have lotion on my hands and the cap is on really tight.

Dermadeli Pumpkin Seed Serum- I am not a user of serums (that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t be) but I am really excited to try this because according to the ipsy description of this product it can help with inflammation of acne and help prevent it in the future and as someone who used to struggle with more breakouts than I do now this is a product that I probably should have been using for years and I hope that it does help with those things as I give it a good test in the next few weeks.

Youth to the People Adaptogen Moisture Cream- I am excited to use this, I have sensitive skin and according to the description on this one it soothes that kind of thing.

Timeless Beauty Bar sheet masks in Up in the Clouds and Glam and Glow- Okay I love sheet masks, I don’t use them as often as I should and I have a collection of them but I love the packaging on these two, it gives you a “best for” situation on them and I love that, it also tells you what it is meant to do, for example the Up in the Clouds one is hydrating and refreshing and best for frequent flyers. I love the packaging it is classy and very informative while still being modern, love it looking forward to using them.

Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels- Again something that I have thought about purchasing in the past, maybe not this specific brand but the idea behind them is pretty cool. I am excited to try them, maybe they will help me look less tired while I walk through life trying to look less tired.

Last section! I promise and this is miscellaneous, things I didn’t really have a category for and it’s only three things so bear with me just a little longer.

IGK First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo- I am usually a user of Batiste dry shampoo but I am always in the market for something different or something that will work better with my hair so I am excited to try this and see if I like it better.

Trust Fund Beauty Nail Lacquer (or polish) in Kiss Kiss, Darling- To be honest from the packaging I thought this was soap, it didn’t say nail polish anywhere in English. I mean I love the color but the packaging had me confused.

Slmissglam R60 Blending Brush and R61 Angled Eyeshadow Brush- Love new brushes and everyone knows it. I love the color of the synthetic hairs on the brush, I love the tiny jewels on the metal part of the handle, I am hoping those don’t come off when I wash them. I am excited to give them a try one of these days.

So do you think it was worth it?

See y’all Tuesday with another post!

What was in my May ipsy Glam Bag?

I feel like I have been on a hiatus for the last few weeks just because of all of the stuff that has been going on in my life but I am back! It has been a rough few weeks with a lot of changes in my life and all of that so I have been off of most of my social media channels for over a month now and that has not been too fun for me, but I digress.

I am still loving ipsy and the products they are sending me, granted this Glam Bag was from May and it is now July but I am going to be playing catch up to some things in the next few weeks when it comes to posting here. My YouTube channel is kind of under construction right now because of personal life stuff so that will come back hopefully before its first anniversary on July 29th.

Let’s get right into it shall we?

I love the bag this month, it has a travel/postage seal theme and I was here for it. I like the fact that each month you get a new bag and everyone gets the same one but on the inside all of the products are different and catered to your style, skin tone, brand preferences, etc. Granted these are small bags, (you could not fit a full sized palette from a lot of brands in here.) but they seem more meant for travel or on the go with your everyday essentials when it comes to an everyday look as opposed to a more dramatic evening look. Now that being said, you could fit plenty of single pot eyeshadows or small palettes in here to transition your day look to a night look with a few swipes of a brush.

On to the products inside:

  1. Lord & Berry Lipstick Crayon in Intimacy (P3405): Now I have never heard of Lord & Berry before and I think that is one thing that I really like about ipsy, they take your preferences and introduce you to new products. I think I own at most one other lipstick crayon and that is from Butter London in the shade Ruby Murray (it’s a deep autumnal red and I love it) but this is a beautiful mauve almost plum shade and I am a huge fan of those shades all year round because it can really make a statement in your look if you do a subdued eye but a more dramatic or drastic maybe experimental lip. I am really looking forward to actually using this shade because the swatch I did went on smooth and didn’t feel heavy or easily crackable, I am used to the crack in lipstick because all I have been using recently is liquid lipstick. I am hoping that it keeps itself up as a long wear lip product because I don’t want to have to reapply it every half an hour because it transfers to everything and wears quickly when you talk.

  1. Sur.Medic Pore-Less Carbonic-Peel: I love a good face mask, especially when it comes to a sheet mask. I don’t do them as often as I should because they make my skin feel amazing. Now this is a Korean beauty product (I am thankful that there is an English translation on the back) and I am looking forward to trying it out because it is carbonated water, I don’t know the full benefits of it but it says that it deep cleans pores. (Which I totally need at all times when I spend most of my days sweating and covered in dust, most of pores are probably so clogged.)

  1. Jivi Lavender Moisturizer with micro algae: I was a little surprised when I opened this moisturizer and it was grey, I was not expecting it to be grey. It smells so good though, just like lavender and it makes your hands really soft. Normally with lotions unless they are formulated properly their smells smell artificial and I have some sensitivity to heavy fragrances so I was happy when this didn’t give me a headache when I wore it on my hands all day. I really like how it made my hands feel though I am one of those people who has three to five lotions in my purse/backpack at all times because inevitably someone will ask me if I have lotion and then I can give them a selection. (This is what happens when you spend years as the mom friend in your friend groups.)

  1. Doucce Maxlash Maximizer Mascara: Now that is a mouthful but Doucce is a brand that I have heard of before, I have one of their palettes that was in the winter fabfitfun box. (at the time a family friend subscribed and she didn’t want hers.) I know that their products are usually something that I enjoy and I was really excited to get a mascara from them in my ipsy bag. The brush end of the wand is almost as long as the tube though so that is something that I have to deal with when I use it. It is one of those mascaras that with one coat makes you feel like you are wearing false lashes because it does give you so much volume. I love it so much because I normally have to use two or three coats to get the volume and separation that I got with this. Also I didn’t really have a clumping issue which made me so happy. It does take a little while to dry, not long but it also depends on how much you actually get on you lashes.

  1. Tarte Smooth Operator Finishing Powder: Tarte is one of my go to brands, if you read my top five eyeshadow palettes you know how much I love my Tarte Trateist Pro eyeshadow palette. I also raved about it in my makeup bag essentials post. I am normally not one to use finishing powder or spray because I normally don’t wear my makeup long enough to need it. Though I will always love Tarte’s packaging and their quality. I am excited to have a need to wear a finishing powder so I can actually try it out.

Even though it is like a month and a half late there is what was in my ipsy Glam Bag in May. I still am a huge fan of the service because it is exposing me to so many new products that I don’t think I would find on my own.

Side note from MJ it is very hard to write a post all the way through when there is a poodle pawing at you.

He’s cute though.
