January 2021 IPSY Glam Bag Plus Unboxing

Hey hey, it’s MJ,

First Glam Bag Plus of the year! So 2021 has been a little crazy so far but I feel like that’s just the tone of the time we are living in right now but I didn’t expect anything to change when the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Eve.

Right so this Glam Bag Plus though, so when I was given my options it was a lot of skin care, which I am fine with but I didn’t feel like I really had a variety of options. I feel like the “ultra-personalization” can be really hit or miss with this bag and it has been since August of last year. Seriously just give me all of the options for the bag and let me pick three, I think that would be such a better idea.

The Bag:

I like the bag it’s a powder blue and says dream over and over again in what I want to call an old school news wire because we used something like that at the radio station at my high school, it’s a dot matrix printer apparently; I Googled it. I like the bag, I am actually really enjoying the draw string bags because they are larger and sometimes when you are taking things places a bag like this is actually more convenient than the regular Glam Bags that have the zipper.

The Products:

What was chosen for me:

Billion Dollar Brows Best Brow Tool Kit Ever:

I have only gotten brushes in the way of tools from IPSY so this a kind of unexpected but I am not mad at it. I have been doing my own eyebrows for years now and actually having brow scissors is actually really convenient so this was a pretty good pick because it’s something that I can use for years and not have to replace unless something breaks. I will probably end up making a case/bag for them or using one of my older glam bags because I agree with some of the reviews that for travel and storage purposes it would be nice if they came in a case.

Pixi Skintreats Hydrating Milky Serum:

I haven’t tried it yet but my glass dropper came bent so hopefully after straightening it out by hand it still does what it’s supposed to do and doesn’t leak. It’s got some really good things in it like jojoba oil and aloe vera so I am excited to give this one a try when I work myself through some of my other serums that I already have in the collection. I have had some mixed reactions to Pixi in the past so who knows with this one I guess we will find out eventually.

What I chose:

Goldfaden MD Mist RX Daily Nutrient Facial Mist:

The only facial mists that I have are rose water so having a facial mist is actually something pretty cool in my brain and I am excited to try it out with the rest of my skin care routine. It says I can also use it as a setting spray and I might actually try that and see if it holds my makeup on longer under my mask than my Colourpop one does. We will see if it really is a “spray-on multivitamin”.

Cover FX Shimmer Veil in Celestial:

The only makeup product that I got actually. I like Cover FX, it’s one of those brands that I don’t buy for myself because it is on the pricier side but it’s a beautiful shade and man is it pigmented. You could see this glow from space if you wanted to but it’s a crème highlighter so you probably diffuse it out a lot more than I did when I swatched it on my hand. It says it’s “eyeshadow” but I will use it more as a highlighter than anything else so I am excited to actually use this one.

Callyssee Whipped Moisturizing Cream for Normal to Dry Skin:

It apparently has green coffee in it and aloe again so I am hoping that it is really moisturizing like it claims to be. It’s vegan and cruelty free which makes me happy as always and I am looking forward to using this because why not. I am seeing some complaints in the comments and reviews about it being not as moisturizing and it smelling funny but I usually don’t care about the reviews because everyone has a different skin type and has different skin concerns, that being said if the reviews are overwhelmingly poor I do avoid those products but that doesn’t seem to be the case here.

Lot’s a skin care, maybe because of the New Year maybe for other reasons, my Glam Bag Plus this month was fine, I can’t complain about it. I just feel as if their choice system needs to be changed because I don’t feel like the Plus since the change have been super personalized like they claim them to be and I know that you cannot please everyone. That being said, I am paying for this allow me to have more choice if you want it “ultra-personalized” give me the entire product range available for that month and allow me to choose the three things I want most, don’t give me a multiple choice test on the products that you think I might like.

I will see y’all later in the week with another post, I hope everyone has a great start to the week though!

            -MJ
