I am going to be honest, I have some mixed feelings about this box. I have been a Collector Corps subscriber since February 2016, my first box was their box for Deadpool when the movie came out. This box is the first box since Amazon took over the subscription service for Marvel under the Funko umbrella. I have almost 150 Pop! Figures in my collection. (I had more but about 30 of them were stolen from my apartment, I am still salty about that and it’s been almost a year.) So I have been an avid collector for years now. I was a huge fan of the subscription box when it was still a Funko only subscription. I subscribed to Disney Treasures (My pioneer member gift got lost in the mail and I am still upset because they didn’t forward it to my new address) and to Collector Corps. I will get more into my mixed feelings after I do the unboxing reveal.
First thing in the box that I got was Deadpool on a unicorn, I love it, it’s so cute and very on brand for the character of Deadpool. I can’t really say much about it beyond the fact that now the little Deadpool on the unicorn Pop! Figure is sitting on my bar cart in the kitchen as its tiny protector. To be honest, I could not think of a better place for it to live right now and I thought that was rather fitting.
Next was a little Deadpool bath time keychain, I always have a Pop! Keychain on my keys, I had Iron Man from Age of Ultron for years, I had Jack Skellington from Nightmare Before Christmas for Halloween two years ago, and I just retired my dancing baby Groot from the original Guardians of the Galaxy movie because his eyes were starting to rub off. Now I have Niffler from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them and he is about 99% of the reason I can find my keys in the endless abyss that is my backpack. Ironically because Niffler likes to steal things.
Next was a Deadpool luggage tag, I feel like I have three or four luggage tags now, two are from Funko subscription boxes. I like the luggage tag idea but I don’t travel by air all that much so I feel like this item may not appeal to the whole audience but a smaller portion of it who likes novelty luggage tags and travels by air on a frequent basis.
The last thing in the box baffled me, I was not sure what this was for the longest time, I made suggestions to myself of a file holder, something for pencils, a general holder of things but I could not for the life of me figure out that this taco truck was for what I am now thinking to be, actual tacos. I am not one of those people who puts tacos in holders I put them on a plate and that is about as far as they get because no one has time for a taco holder. This was the think the most odd and disappointing thing in this box and I am still confused as to its actual use.
This box was for sure different than the boxes that I have become used to in the past, when they were under Funko you got a pin and a patch to go with every box (even though they started phasing that out near the end), as well as a single issue comic book (which they phased out half way through last year), you also received a card in each box that told you the process and design behind everything that went in the box and I loved that because it gave me a chance to read about the products that were in the box. I have no idea if the taco truck thing in this box is a taco holder, I don’t know. It took me twenty minutes to even come to that conclusion because I was on the phone with a friend and that was the suggestion that she made.
I feel like I got used to the quality in the Funko box that the Amazon box just isn’t bringing. When I got the email that they were phasing the subscriptions to other retailers I was crushed, I was skeptical on how good they were going to be without being I guess curated by someone at the company, if they still are I feel like in 2018 they were phoning it in. (I’m sorry to say, but that is how I feel.) I am going to give the box one more time so the next theme is Venom and I will get that but if I am still not feeling it there is a chance that I will unsubscribe and that isn’t something that I look forward to.
I feel like I have lots of thoughts, opinions, and feelings about this box in general but some that I am still working through because it was not up to par with the Collector Corp’s boxes of the past, if you want to watch any of those you can go check them out on my YouTube channel, I unboxed quite a few there over the last year.
If you subscribe or subscribed in the past what are your feelings with this box or the whole turn over to other retailers when it comes to the Funko subscription boxes?
