I wasn’t really expecting to be doing this post this month because I honestly didn’t think that I would be buying many beauty items this month and then…I did. Well let’s get into it then. MJ bought more than she was planning on this month and that’s okay because sometimes that happens.
I only went to two places for beauty this month and that was Ulta and then Marshall’s. (A place that I went to for a purse but walked out with makeup instead.)
Let’s run through Ulta first.
I went into the store early in the month and picked up the Urban Decay Born to Run palette because I saw it on Instagram and I wanted it so bad because he had some interesting colors in it and Urban Decay always not only has great packaging but also their pigmentation is amazing, if you have read my Top 5 Eyeshadow Palettes posts you know how much I love Urban Decay, I feel like one of their palettes was in my Makeup Bag Essentials also. I love the color spectrum in this palette because the colors are so vibrant and so unique so I knew that I had to have it and I love it.
A few years ago I got a NYX advent calendar and I finally ripped all of the little boxes that had the pans of eyeshadow apart and I purchased this tarte magnetic palette (1) to house them. I am a fan of the depotting things trend so I needed a place to put all of my depotted things. I still need to get magnets to put on the bottom of the pans to make them stick to the new palette but that is something that I am still working on.
I got an email telling me that a Morphe palette was on sale I went and jumped on it, it was the Natural Glow palette (2). I am a huge fan of Morphe and this palette seems like a great neutral palette, also it looks like a great autumnal palette so I am excited to actually use this. Morphe changed their packaging again and they now have the plastic insert with the shade names and I was excited because it makes it so much easier to talk about the colors with a name attached to them.
I have never been on the setting powder train but I have been watching a lot of YouTube beauty guru’s in the last few weeks and so I figured, why not try it. I bought the Revolution Luxury Baking Powder (3) because I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on something that I may not enjoy using. I got it in the shade ghost which is white, it looks like straight talcum powder, (yes talc is an ingredient but still) like I feel like if I put it on I am going to look like a real ghost.
The last thing I got at Ulta was a RealTechniques 300 powder brush (4), I don’t actually have a loose powder brush, I don’t know why but I do not so I found myself needing one. I know that you can use a beauty blender to put your setting powder on, I don’t know I will try both. I love the coloring of the brush because it is an ombre pink and purple and that’s amazing.
Marshall’s is not a place I usually look for makeup but I was wandering around there and I found some really good items.
Now I was a little shocked to see some of the items that I did there this time because normally the makeup that you find at Marshall’s is from brands that I have never heard of but this time was different. Maybe it’s because I moved and there is a different selection here then there was in Northern Indiana.
I have been thinking about getting a beauty blender sponge quite a bit recently because I am eventually going to do a foundation application blog post, granted I did not buy a beauty blender brand sponge because they are expensive. I bought a knock off and these pictures are damp (right) and dry (left). The rose water bottle is just for scale, though the rose water was in my Current Favorites video so if you want to check that post out; go ahead. I went and purchased a second one of these because you are supposed to get rid of them after a few months because of the potential for bacteria build up.( Yes I know that the pictures are at slightly different angles, it was hard because it took the sponge quite some time to fully dry and get back down to its original size because I didn’t think about taking the comparison photo until after I had run it under the tap. When damp it is probably almost double the size it is when dry.)
The next item was something that I have been thinking about again for a while, I have been seeing the trend of magnetic lashes (1) online recently and I have never used fake lashes anyway but the magnetic ones seemed really interesting so I am looking forward to trying them out.
These next three I was really shocked to see there because they were all designer brands.
I found an Anastasia Beverly Hills Aurora Glow Kit (2) and I was shocked to see it there. I finally swatched the colors and I was blown away, I feel like most of my current highlighters are all peachy or golden hues but these are more interesting and variable and I am a huge fan of that glow pop they give. Super looking forward to incorporating them into a look or more than one look because they promise to be very beautiful.
I found a Lorac (3) crème lipstick in the color Girl Next Door, I am not a big user of crème lipsticks anymore but I feel like the colors that I have in crème lipsticks are all more on the pink side of the spectrum than my liquid lipsticks.
The other lipstick I found was an Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick (4) in the color “Stripped” it is amazing and yet another nude lipstick to add to my collection. I am looking forward to using this as well.
I went a little crazy in the makeup and beauty buying department this month but that was okay because I got some great products and some great deals out of the equation.
Did you buy any new makeup or beauty products this month? Did you add anything new to your beauty routine?
